Mario Casanova is the Director of Bands at Trinity High School. Mr. Casanova received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas where he studied trumpet with Dr. Leonard Candelaria. He then attended the world famous Juilliard School of Music  where he earned a Masters of  Music degree in trumpet performance. While at Juilliard, Mr. Casanova studied trumpet with Mr. William Vacchiano and Vincent Penzarella.

Prior to his arrival at Trinity, Mr. Casanova was the Director of Bands at Paschal High School in Fort Worth. At Paschal his band made “Sweepstakes” in 2007 for the first time in 38 years. His jazz band was featured in the 2006 September issue of “Southwestern Musician”. Mr. Casanova has also taught in San Antonio at Winston Churchill High School. During his time at Churchill from 1999-2003, the marching band placed 3rd (2000) and 4th (2002) in the UIL State Marching Band Contest. In 1999 and 2002 the Churchill Marching Band placed 9th at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. Additionally, Mr. Casanova taught in Mesquite ISD, Donna ISD, and Kingsville ISD.

Mr. Casanova was a member of the National Orchestra of New York where he performed under many conductors such as Zuben Mehta, Otto Vernon  Mueller and George Mester at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Casanova has also performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Allen Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony and the Mexico City Philharmonic.

During the summers, Mr. Casanova is the jazz band director at the Stephen F. Austin State University band camp and the Texas A&M at Kingsville band camp. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Casanova is an active clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor throughout the state of Texas. He has served as a clinician at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.
